Maple Ridge Burrards split weekend games

WLA club on the road this week, back at The Cam on July 7

The Maple Ridge Burrards beat the Adanacs 11-6 on Saturday in Coquitlam, but then lost 10-6 to the undefeated Victoria Shamrocks on Sunday back at Cam Neely Arena.

Brandon Humphrey was the first star of the game against the Adanacs, as the Burrards goalie allowed only six goals on 38 shots.

Dylan Mcintosh had two goals and five points to lead the Burrards, and Ryan Jones and Rhys Porteous each had two goals and one assist. First overall draft pick Marcus Klarich had a goal and two assists for three points as well.

The Burrards jumped out to a 3-1 lead on the Shamrocks on Sunday, but lost their momentum and their lead as the Shamrocks tied the game on the power play. Victoria's deadly power play scored four of their 10 goals with the man advantage.

Klarich led the Burrards with three goals, as he ripped 14 shots on goal and was named the game's third star. Mcintosh had two goals and an assist.

Jones is second in league scoring with 37 points, and Mcintosh's 36 points ties him for third with Shamrock star Jesse King.

The Shamrocks improved to a perfect 8-0 on the season, and they've done it with great defence – allowing a league low 49 goals so far.

The Burrards are now 3-6, and their push for a playoff spot continues as they go back to the Coquitlam Sports Centre on Tuesday night, June 25.
