Summer golf is in full swing in Pitt Meadows, which means the local courses will be hosting a variety of tournaments, both big and small, over the coming weeks.

Perhaps one of the biggest is coming up next weekend as the Meadows Gardens Golf Club prepares to host the fourth annual Meadows Gardens Open Presented by Lordco Auto Parts.

Curtis Baldwin, director of golf and sales at Meadows Gardens, called this tournament the biggest two-day golf event in the province, with both amateurs and professionals competing.

"We will see some of the brightest up-and-coming players here on July 13 and 14," said Baldwin. "Kevin Stinson, who just played in the RBC Canadian Open on the PGA Tour will headline the event for the professionals, with some other top local talent also participating."

The tournament will offer more than $100,000 in prizes, including a brand-new truck, and will involve up to 48 professionals and 160 amateurs.

"We welcome spectators to the event to watch some fantastic golf and will have bleachers set up by the 15th green and a beer garden close by to enjoy some refreshments," said Baldwin.

The Meadows Gardens Open Presented by Lordco Auto Parts Ltd. will take place on July 13 and 14, with the Meadows Gardens Golf Club hosting parts of the BC Summer Games the following week.
