Ridge Meadows Pride 2012B faced the Langley Extreme on March 30 as part of the Ridge Meadows Icebreaker Tournament, which opened the 2024 season.

Hundreds of B.C. youth will spend their Canada Day playing the beloved sport of softball as the Ridge Meadows Minor Softball Association (RMMSA) prepares to host its annual Summer Series Tournament.

A total of 27 teams will be travelling to Maple Ridge from all over B.C., as well as Alberta and even Oregon, explained RMMSA communications manager Misa Van Der May.

She said that while the tournament typically includes U13A, U15A, and U17A teams, the occurrence of the Canada Cup on the same weekend has made this year's Summer Series Tournament only include the younger two divisions.

"It will still be a fantastic tournament with lots of talent and competitive teams playing each other for those gold medals," said Van Der May.

In addition to being the last major tournament of the season for RMMSA, Van Der May explained that it is also one of the most popular events and has been running for 15 years now.

"We are super excited to host this and can’t wait to watch some really good softball and hopefully get some really good weather."

The Summer Series Tournament starts June 28 and continues until Canada Day, with games taking place at the Albion Sports Complex.
