While the outside weather can be quite dreary during the winter months, the Maple Ridge Public Library wants to help make the season a bit more fun as they prepare to host their annual Winter Fun Fair.

As part of Family Literacy Day, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in Canada this year, the library hosts this family-friendly event, which drew more than 1,000 attendees last year.

Community librarian supervisor Liza Morris explained that there will be a variety of community groups participating once again this year, with various contests being held.

“We will have a family dance party and musical performances throughout the event by Showstoppers Academy,” said Morris.

“We will have passports for attendees to complete by visiting booths at the event for a chance to win Black Bond Books gift cards, and we will also be accepting entries for the FVRL Family Literacy Day contest.”

The family dance party will take place from 11:30 a.m. to noon, with the Winter Fun Fair happening from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27.
