A Maple Ridge church is helping locals put any old toys lying around their homes to good use this holiday season by setting up a toy drive for the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Christmas Hamper Society.

On Dec. 2, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will be collecting armfuls of used toys, which will then be distributed to children in need.

This charity event is being done in partnership with the Christmas Hamper Society, which is expecting to help more than 200 families this holiday season.

The church is asking for toys suitable for kids ranging from infants to teenagers, and will be accepting any toy that is in good operating condition.

“These toys go to our Rudolph’s Recycle Gift Shoppe where registered families select items that their children can use,” explained the Christmas Hamper Society.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church toy drive will take place at the church, 2145 Laity St., on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Rudolph’s Recycle Gift Shoppe will be run on Dec. 2, 9, and 16 at the Albion Fairgrounds.
