According to Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT, the shooting occurred at approximately 5:12 p.m. near the intersection of 223 Street and Lougheed Highway.

After multiple shots rang out, first responders arrived on the scene to find a man with life-threatening injuries.

Despite administering CPR and other life-saving measures, the man succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Several witnesses reported seeing a man fleeing the scene after the shooting, with police now asking for help in identifying the suspect.

“We are asking any witnesses or anyone with dash-camera footage from the area, to contact IHIT immediately,” said Sgt. Pierotti.

IHIT is particularly interested in dash-cam video from the area around 223 Street and Lougheed Highway between the hours of 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Police say that while the investigation is still ongoing, there is no active threat to the community.

“Initial evidence suggests this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to the public,” said Sgt. Pierotti.

Anyone with evidence or information related to this incident can contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
