Transit users who have had their commute interrupted by the Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC) strike can still rely on the West Coast Express on Tuesday, Jan. 23, according to TransLink.
The strike by CUPE Local 4500 shut down most bus and SeaBus service across the region, and left thousands of transit riders looking for transportation on Monday morning.
The West Coast Express is a commuter rail service that travels from Mission Ctiy to downtown Vancouver on weekday mornings and returns during the evening commute. It has stops in Maple Ridge (Port Haney and Maple Meadows Stations), Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam and Port Moody.
So far, the trains have still been running through the labour strife.

While bus and Seabus service has been stopped, SkyTrain is still running. So is HandyDART, West Vancouver Blue Bus, Bowen Island Community Shuttles, and Langley Community Shuttles.
Job action was scheduled to last 48 hours, after talks between the union representing striking workers and Coast Mountain Bus Company concluded without an agreement. The striking workers’ contract expired in October 2022.
TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn said in a statement he was “frustrated and disappointed” by the strike that affected 300,000 Coast Mountain customers and left thousands “stranded.”
