Police found a man suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot, Surrey RCMP media relations officer Cpl. James Mason said.

One man is in hospital with serious injuries after a suspected shooting in Strawberry Hill early Friday morning, police say.

Police in Surrey responded to a call around 5:30 a.m. Friday (July 5) of a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the Home Depot parking lot near the 12200 block of 73 Avenue, Surrey RCMP media relations officer Cpl. James Mason said.

The investigation is still in the early stages, but Mason said it is currently believed to be an "isolated and target incident." No arrests have been made.

The parking lot of Home Depot was still behind police tape at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning.

"The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit has conduct of the investigation, and investigators are working to determine all of the circumstances surrounding the shooting," Mason said.

At this time, they do not know the exact location where the shooting took place. "Just because that's where we ended up doesn't mean that's where it happened," Mason added.

The Surrey RCMP asks anyone who witnesses the shooting or has any information or dash cam footage that was in the area at the time to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-97305
