Hair stylists and makeup artists are in need for the 11th annual Ridge Meadows Help Portrait event.

Help Portrait is a holiday event that provides individuals and families who couldn’t otherwise afford it, a professional, framed portrait of themselves.

Volunteers give mini-makeovers to people before they pose for a professional photographer. One framed print is given free to every group.

“We’re excited to provide this fabulous service for our community again,” said organizer Brenda Norrie.

“We hope to find lots of residents and businesses that want to join in and contribute by volunteering or donating to help us make our 11th year a great event this holiday season,” she added.

Help Portrait takes place in 67 countries across the globe. It was founded by American celebrity photographer, Jeremy Cowart, in 2008.

To date more than 380,000 portraits have been given out, made possible by the more than 75,000 volunteers who have taken part.

Pre-registration is now available for the event at: helpportraitridgemeadows.com/register.

There will be snacks and drinks available, in addition to children’s entertainment, music, and a comfortable waiting area.

The event will be taking place from 1-7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, at Golden Ears United Church,, 22165 Dewdney Trunk Rd., Maple Ridge.

To volunteer go to helpportraitridgemeadows.com where forms will be available.
