Vendors to pack downtown Maple Ridge for Canada Day

The Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association will have 34 vendors at the July 1 event

The Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association is gearing up to celebrate Canada Day, with a plan to pack the downtown corridor with local vendors selling everything from unique gifts, to delicious food, to handmade crafts.

There will be 34 vendors lined along 224 Street during the city's Canada Day festivities from noon until 6 p.m. on July 1, from 119th Avenue to just past McIntosh Avenue.

Currently, they are full and have a waiting list of vendors, said Flori Chaykowski, executive director of the association.

There will be all different kinds of artisans, in addition to a community stage which the association is sponsoring.

"It brings people not only to our vendors and to our market, but to our businesses that are open on Canada Day as well," said Chaykowski.

Pet supplies, pizza, tacos, prepared food vendors, jewellery, and more, will be available at the market.

Chaykowski said she loves being part of the Canada Day festivities because of the energy it brings to the downtown core.

"Letting people know who our businesses are, what they do, why they're there, and supporting local – that's our biggest initiative," she said.
