To start the event, several local dignitaries got on stage to do some speeches, with Maple Ridge Mayor Dan Ruimy taking time to recognize the City of Maple Ridge and the many people that worked so hard to put the event together.

“Maple Ridge is a great place to live,” said Ruimy. “Maple Ridge has the best volunteers in the whole country.”

He also explained that Canada Day was only the start of the city’s summer fun and promised much more to come in the next few months.

“This event kicks off an amazing summer of events and festivals, and all of us on council look forward to seeing you as we connect with our neighbours and friends,” said Ruimy.
