The final day of the 1st Haney Scout Group’s annual Christmas tree fundraiser has arrived.

Only 20 trees were left on the lot as of Friday, Dec. 15, after a busy season.

“If we sell out all of them it will be 705 trees that we would have sold this year,” said Phil Goncalves with the Scouting group.

He noted that this year was busy at the beginning of the season because of news reports of tree shortages.

But, he said, a lot of their customers are repeat customers because their trees are fresh cut and from local tree farms.

He is expecting to raise between $12,000 and $15,000 for the group , most of which will be going towards sending 20 Scouts, eight Venturers, and six Scouters, to the annual Pacific Jamboree taking place in July next year at Camp Bernard in Sooke.

The last day to pick up a tree is between 9-9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, in the Trek parking lot at the corner of Lougheed Highway and 216 Street.
