Free Christmas Tea Party to be held for seniors in Maple Ridge

Registration is now open for a free Seniors Christmas Tea Party with the Silvertones Choir.

Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Katzie Seniors Network executive director Heather Treleaven, said the event will fill up fast, advising those interested to register as soon as possible if they want to attend.

The Silvertones is a choir made up of senior singers, sponsored by the Ridge Meadows Seniors Society.

According to Celebrating Seniors – A History of the Ridge Meadows Seniors Society 20th Anniversary Souvenir Book, by Doug Robinson, the Silvertones were formed in 1987, the choir was formed by Marjorie Bates, an accomplished musician and piano player. The choir’s mandate is to give back to the community through music and entertainment, especially to seniors in hospitals, long term care homes and retirement homes.

Each year the Silvertones perform around 40 concerts – encouraging audience participation.

The Seniors Christmas Tea Party will be taking place from 1-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Maple Ridge Public Library, 22470 Dewdney Trunk Rd., Maple Ridge, and hosted by the Seniors Network.

Light refreshments will be served and participants will be encouraged to dress in festive, holiday attire.

Registration is required as space is limited.
