Registration is now open for the BC Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program.

The program provides weekly coupons to low-income families, pregnant women, and seniors, in British Columbia to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and fish at their local Farmers Market or at participating markets across B.C. from June 4 to Dec. 18, although not all markets operate during that time period.

The healthy eating initiative started in 2007 as a pilot project in each of the regional health authorities, also aims to support farmers’ markets and strengthens food security across British Columbia.

Locally the coupon program was started in 2012 in partnership with the Province of British Columbia and the Provincial Health Services Authority.

Those eligible include: seniors aged 65 and over, families with children under the age of 19, and pregnant people on a low income.

Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.
