Mike Joyce was born in 1946 in South Shields, England. He passed away on April 24, 2024 after a sudden decline in health while battling cancer. Mike's passing was unexpected, and his family is deeply saddened. Mike was 77 years old.
Mike was a retired chef who started his career at the Claridge's Hotel in London, England. He later worked and trained in Germany and Switzerland before relocating to Vancouver, BC, in 1974, shortly after getting married to his wife, Angelika, in Augsburg, Germany. July 6, 2024 would have been their 50th wedding anniversary.
Mike was the owner of the beloved Original Lunch Doctor and Flying Lunch Doctor in Pitt Meadows for almost 20 years.
Once retired, Mike spent much of his time creating furniture in his workshop, gardening, or painting his next masterpiece. Every morning he could be found with his cup of coffee reading a mystery novel, while listening to jazz music.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, two children, Julia Joyce (Erick Walters) and Patrick Joyce, and his three brothers, John (Glynis) Joyce, Peter (Jean) Joyce, and Chris (Elaine) Joyce.
Mike was an exceptional father, husband, and friend. He had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humour. His family and friends were spoiled by his generosity and culinary brilliance. Mike's absence will leave a profound void in their lives.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held in the summer and his family will notify all family and friends.
